“Where we encounter evil, stupidity, destruction for the sake of destruction, oppression and any sort of anti-human behaviour, lurking behind these actions, in the shadows of it all is this force, this energy, this horrible capacity that is known as “intellect”.”

“Today, a man was in need of help. He told me that when he drinks, in the aftermath of such intoxication, his mind is in a very dark place. His eyes were sad and lost at the same time – his gaze made me feel uncomfortable; not fearful as such, but disgusted with the condition itself for I saw mediocrity in it. I was however wrong.
First, there was no mediocrity there, but desperation of something repeating itself in his life, trapping him in a tormenting place.
Second, my attitude should have been one of understanding, although not necessarily of aiming to help for in such situations only the individual can assist himself or herself; any external source is a nuisance. Perhaps, after all, I was afraid; afraid to touch that which I know to imprison everyone if one does not pay close attention to it, and this it is none other than the human condition.”

“Those who turn away from God will be swallowed by an abyss of recurring meaninglessness. There is no other path, but the pillar of Solomon, for I too have seen the door at which Zarathustra stood, looking at the two paths of eternity – the eternal past and the eternal future meeting in the door above which the word “Moment” was inscribed. But then I looked up and saw Starets Zosima handing me a spring onion…”

“The relationship between God and man is not one of master – slave, but one of friendship. However, this relationships is out of balance. One friend guides, forgives and loves while the other abandons their friend from time to time for meaningless pursuits, betrays their friend for ephemeral achievements, casts away their friend because they are upset at themselves but are not strong enough to face it and so on.
God is the first friend, always there for us. We are the latter friend. We cry, “God, why have You forsaken me?” when God has never left our side while we kept turning away from Him, again and again. And again and again, God is there for us, waiting to ask of Him nothing more but this: “God, are you still there?” The answer never hesitates to come, even if we are too busy to hear or see it.”

“Oh Nietzsche, you wanted to purify philosophy of the last trace of the “odor of theology” and yet you were so fundamentally a Christian: your hammer – the eternal recurrence, the affirmation of nothingness in the face of the forever repeating nothingness – was but your cross which you took it upon yourself, for you lived, faced and overcame nihility. You did not looked down upon your fate which you knew and accepted it. Was this not exactly what Christ did? The Son of God knew He will die and still walked the path of His fate, as decided by the Father. And just like your own self resurrected itself from facing the most fatalistic of all nihilities, so did Christ raised from the dead, having faced His cross. Did you not see the resemblance, dear Nietzsche?”

“Thinkers have a duty towards non-thinkers: not only must they be on guard for the destructive potential of their thoughts and thus to curb them, to dilute them, but they also need to be aware of ideas already placed in society, infiltrating institutions and corrupting hearts and minds and point them out relentlessly. Those who do not take up their cross as thinkers become mere intellectuals in the service of money, political power, military might, scientism and other mutilating forces, selling out their gift of thinking for nothing.”

“Everyone who criticises the far-Left is automatically on the far-Right because everyone, even the centrist or the a-politic, is far from those knee deep in the blood of millions upon millions of people.”

“One of the greatest pleasures in life, alongside the solitude of the mountains, the fresh air of the forests and the tranquillity of a monastery, is to read the work of Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky. When I read Dostoevsky, I felt like I could breathe for the first time in my life.”

“Satre’s fundamental perspective on God is wrong. The French philosopher argued that if God exists human freedom cannot exist – at all. I am free now: I can do anything I desire, and the consequences of my actions shall be measured within the remits of the law, created and imposed by the state, as well as of the laws imposed by nature through biology, physics and chemistry. For example, if I murder, I will be under trial. If I jump from a cliff, I shall perish.
But perhaps Sartre referred to the freedom of thought. Well, I can contemplate anything I want, even that God does not exist or that God, if He exists, He is evil. I can embrace any creed I desire and any system of values I want. Does my freedom of thought somehow prove that God does not exist? No.
If there is anything that limits my freedom of thought is certainly not God (nor nature, for that matter) but the state and other human constructions: society, corporations, armies and so on – all are man-made institutions that have laws and policies on how, when and what to think, say and do.
God liberates the most atrocious burden on us: the Existentialist question.”

“Christians have to stop praying for nonsense: peace, end of hunger, no more diseases, eradication of error, the character of public officials – all these are stupid things to desire, for they are not consistent with the very flawed human nature that the Christian faith stresses by acknowledging the primordial sin.
More so, it is said in the Scriptures that the Kingdom of God is not of this world, thus why ask for perfection – because all these prayers, as others of similar ethos, seek to bring this Eden down to Earth…why pray like this when you know this is not possible? And then, when more wars, famines, pests and governments bring chaos, death and suffering, the men and women of the flock shall question God’s will and authority because their prayers were seemingly not answered. Do you not see that these prayers undermine the faith?
Instead, pray for strength, courage, wisdom and self-control in the face of suffering, chaos and the moment of death.”

“Soon, I must confront the Aesthetic, or it will consume me entirely. I have to ask it, what is that it wants me to understand or to feel from its recurrence. But I must ask it only once and ask it well. I cannot mess around with nonsense. Abstraction shall be the tool which will break all abstractions.”

“Is this it? If this is it, if this is life among men, then the nihilists, the misanthropes and the anti-natalists have all been right. Therefore, this cannot be it. I must look for it further, somewhere else.”
